Your top choice for compassionateIn-Home Care in Tampa, FL

It's often said that the golden years of your life are the most enjoyable. For most older adults in the U.S., it's a time to unwind, reflect, and live in the comfort of familiar surroundings. And that's how it should be - most senior citizens in America worked hard to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise their families. Shouldn't they be able to age with grace and dignity at home?

The answer is undoubtedly "yes," but as seniors age, they sometimes need assistance to live independently. Unfortunately, many older adults are unable to rely on adult children for help due to busy schedules, a lack of expertise, or both. That's where Mind & Mobility's home care in Tampa, FL begins to make a lot of sense.

Our in-home care services cater to those who want to stay in their homes as they age but require ongoing care that their loved ones cannot provide. Nowadays, most seniors prefer to live away from long-term care facilities and closer to their home where they feel most at ease.

If you or your senior loved one wants to thrive in their own house and avoid care facilities, in-home care is an effective, safe way to give family and friends the care they need when they need it the most.

The Mind & Mobility Difference

Mind & Mobility is a home care agency that takes pride in helping seniors enjoy life at home with grace and comfort. One of the biggest reasons why so many seniors and their families choose us is that our senior caregivers in Tampa, FL, do more than just change bedsheets and prepare meals. They make it a point to provide compassionate care and connect with patients on a personal level.

Instead of eliminating independence from our senior population in Florida, we believe in maximizing it - a goal that's not always supported by assisted living facilities and nursing homes. In fact, those locations are often overpriced, understaffed, and known for the spread of disease. Senior care from Mind & Mobility provides a more emotionally and financially relieving option, whether you need a little help around the house or more involved services like companion care or dementia care.

While we take pride in providing compassionate caregiving services for seniors at home, we also offer clients free access to our Mind & Mobility Homecare Center in South Florida. Here, your senior can receive treatment from therapists who are experts in physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Our therapists work collaboratively in a supportive environment, taking into consideration the client's needs and concerns. They combine their expertise with the latest research in their fields to deliver cutting-edge, evidence-based services. With unlimited access to one-on-one sessions, our therapists' top priority is to help seniors live and age gracefully at home without having to relocate to an assisted living facility.

What is Senior Care in Tampa, FL?

Many older adults in the United States prefer to age at home, as it offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity. According to an AARP report, three out of four adults aged 50 and above wish to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

However, as adults approach their 60s and 70s, some may require assistance around the house, especially when family members are too busy or live far away. The truth is that the natural process of aging can make it challenging to continue living at home. Simple tasks like running errands become more difficult due to mobility issues. Preparing healthy meals and keeping track of medications and appointments can also become a challenge. Safety becomes a concern, and family members may worry about the well-being of their loved ones.

In these situations, in-home care is often a perfect fit. It allows seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

Mind & Mobility provides a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they receive the help they need to remain independent. If you have a senior loved one who needs some extra help to stay happy and healthy, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even from afar.

Companion Care You Can Count On

Aging in place refers to the practice of aging adults living in their homes as they grow old. Studies show that around 77% of retirees prefer to stay in their homes for as long as possible, and home care can be an excellent way to bridge the gap between receiving elder care and staying at home.

Allowing your aging loved ones to maintain their independence is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. This can contribute to their overall health and well-being, as opposed to a living facility where they may feel powerless and depressed. Unfortunately, these facilities often take away a senior's ability to do simple things like cooking for themselves, scheduling visits with family and friends, and even bathing in the comfort of their own homes.

Home care in Tampa, FL, including companion care services, is designed to provide both medical and non-medical solutions that your senior needs in order to maintain their independence. That way, your senior doesn't have to destabilize their life or adjust to a new way of living away from home.

Take a Break with RespiteCare Services from Mind & Mobility

Taking care of a senior loved one can be a tiring and overwhelming task, particularly if the caregiver is employed full-time and has other responsibilities to handle. Taking care of an older adult in such a situation can result in caregiver burnout, which can lead to a decline in the quality of care provided and even illness. To combat this issue, many adult caregivers choose respite care as a solution instead of full-time home care in Tampa, FL.

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults in the United States provide care to someone aged 50 or older. Unfortunately, many of these caregivers experience stress, fatigue, and even depression.

Respite care services offer a short-term break to family members and unpaid caregivers from their caregiving duties. This is a crucial service that benefits both seniors and their caregivers and can be arranged for a few hours or even several days, depending on their requirements.

What are the Benefits of Respite Care from Mind & Mobility?

Respite care services can have a significantly positive impact on the health of your elderly loved one, as well as your own. Whether it's for an extended period of time or just a few hours a week, respite care can help ease the burden of caregiving.

Taking some time off for yourself may seem selfish at first, but it's crucial to recharge your batteries to be able to continue providing care. Taking a short (or longer-term) break can also improve the overall quality of your care. Plus, professional respite care services offer your senior an opportunity to learn from and engage with a compassionate caregiver from Mind & Mobility.

Three Hurdles That Family Caregivers Face

Caring for your aging parents can be a fulfilling act of love. As you reminisce about the care they gave you while growing up, you now have the opportunity to return the favor. However, providing care for loved ones can be challenging. It's important to anticipate the obstacles you may face and learn how to manage them to protect your own health and well-being.

Here are three of the toughest challenges that family caregivers have to face when caring for their senior parents or loved ones.

Enough Support

Not Enough Support

It's common to feel like you're carrying the majority of the burden when it comes to taking care of your aging parents. However, assuming that you are solely responsible for their care can be overwhelming and cause strain in other relationships. It's important to remember that caring for someone else is not a one-person job. Attempting to do so can lead to burnout, depression, and other serious health issues. It can also negatively impact the level of care your parents receive.

Enough Sleep

Not Enough Sleep

Interrupted sleep can be a problem for older adults whose circadian clock has shifted, leading them to wake up more frequently throughout the night. It can also be a result of stress and worry. If dementia is a factor, you may need to stay alert due to sundowning and wandering. Those tasks can be difficult and require a sharp mind that has had plenty of rest. In fact, getting enough sleep is crucial for your ability to provide the best care for your parents, as well as for your own physical and emotional well-being.

Enough Privacy

Not Enough Privacy

Sharing living space with your parents can compromise both your physical and emotional privacy. This is especially true if one or both of your parents have dementia, which can cause them to feel afraid or disoriented when you're not around. At the same time, your parents may also find it difficult to maintain their privacy while under your care.

That begs the question - how can you conquer the challenges that most family caregivers face on a daily basis?

In-Home Care in Tampa, FL Helps Alleviate Your Burden

Mind & Mobility's in-home caregivers can be there to help you ensure the best care for your parents and a healthier life balance for yourself. Taking a break from caregiving is not just a great idea; it's essential.

Our respite care services offer you regular breaks from caregiving, which allows you to take care of yourself while enriching your parents' lives. We provide opportunities for socialization and engaging activities, along with the necessary support to ensure safety and comfort. You can rest easy knowing that your parents are in the best of hands while you take a break.

For a limited time, order Chick-fil-A Delivery and enjoy a $0 delivery fee. The current delivery hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, subject to availability. Chick-fil-A also made a separate post showing what goes on behind the scenes of a drone delivery order.

A post shared by Chick-fil-A E. Brandon-Valrico (@chickfila_valrico)

The process begins when a customer places an order through the Chick-fil-A app. Their order is then prepared and packed snugly into a white box by the restaurant’s diligent staff. The securely packaged box is then hitched onto a drone before beginning its journey to the customer’s location. Equipped with advanced navigation technology, the drone makes its way to the delivery address. Upon arrival, it gently lowers the boxed order to the ground, enabling customers to receive their orders right at their doorstep or at a location of their choice.

Chick-fil-A informed USA Today that they are currently experimenting with new modes of delivery. According to the fast-food restaurant chain, Chick-fil-A continually looks for inventive strategies to improve its customer experience. They are at the initial stage of trialing drone delivery at a handful of Chick-fil-A establishments.

Chick-fil-A’s decision to test drone delivery indicates a pioneering shift toward a futuristic model where drone deliveries could become the norm. Other retailers, such as Walmart, have indicated an interest in doing the same. It will be interesting to see how other fast food and restaurant businesses follow suit.

BRANDON, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 29-year-old man who attempted to flee deputies by intentionally accelerating his car and striking a sheriff's Tahoe SUV that had its emergency lights activated.

On Wednesday just before 8:30 a.m., detectives learned that wanted felon Jabari Walden had been seen by deputies entering a parked car in the Kensington Lakes Circle apartments in Brandon.

There were multiple outstanding warrants against Walden on charges of trafficking in fentanyl, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, as well as violation of probation for fleeing to elude in Pinellas County and grand theft in Broward County.

Detectives responded with emergency lights activated and Walden tried to flee in the gray car he was seen entering, said the sheriff's office. While fleeing, the sheriff said Walden intentionally accelerated and struck a parked car and an unmarked sheriff's Tahoe that had its emergency lights activated.

The deputy in the Tahoe was not injured.

This comes a month after a Brandon man intentionally accelerated his car and ran into two sheriff's deputies, seriously injuring both when he crushed their legs between his car and their sheriff's vehicles. Cpl. Carlos Brito remains hospitalized after multiple surgeries to save his leg.

"It's an unmitigated tragedy when those sworn to protect and serve face intentional harm while doing their job. The anger, heartbreak and disappointment run deep, especially when, less than a month ago, we witnessed an unsettling attack on two of our deputies," said Sheriff Chad Chronister.

"This is just another stark reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers face daily," he said. "Their resilience in the face of such adversity demonstrates their dedication to protecting our communities from those who seek to destroy our peace and safety."

Walden's car broke down following the collisions and he was taken into custody.

During the arrest, deputies discovered a substantial quantity of narcotics. Walden was found in possession of 10.7 grams of trafficking-grade fentanyl and an additional 30 grams of fentanyl were found in his car.

Walden is currently in custody and will face a series of charges related to the outstanding warrants, as well as charges stemming from Wednesday's arrest.

FLORIDA — A last-ditch effort to save Buy Buy Baby has failed, and the company will close all its stores in Florida and across the U.S. as part of its bankrupt parent company's ongoing liquidation.

CNBC reported that the owner of children’s apparel company Janie and Jack was "eager" to buy the Bed Bath & Beyond chain and keep it running, but could not reach a deal on its value.

There are seven Buy Buy Baby (styled buybuy BABY) stores remaining in Florida. As of Thursday morning, these locations are still listed as open on Buy Buy Baby's website:

Buy Buy Baby's lender "determined it could recover more of its losses" by selling the chain's IP (intellectual property) and going ahead with liquidation sales. Debtors canceled an auction of the entire business last week, CNN Business reported. It is not immediately clear when stores would begin closing.

New Jersey's Dream on Me Industries, one of Buy Buy Baby’s former suppliers, won the chain’s trademark and digital assets for $15.5 million according to CNBC. Bed Bath & Beyond failed to receive any higher bids.

Buy Buy Baby was seen as one of the retailer's more valuable assets, with several companies interested in securing at least part of the brand separately from the parent company.

Bed Bath & Beyond, which is headquartered in Union, New Jersey, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on April 23, listing its estimated assets and liabilities at a value up to $10 billion. Discounted sales have been going on since late April at 360 Bed Bath and Beyond stores around the country, including the stores remaining in New Jersey.

Overstock.com put in a $21.5 million offer for Bed Bath & Beyond's IP in June.

BRANDON, FL — Barnes & Noble has announced the opening of its new Brandon bookstore on Wednesday, Aug. 23. This event marks the first new Barnes & Noble in the area since the opening of its Wesley Chapel location in 2008.

The new Barnes & Noble is in Regency Square, 2428 W Brandon Blvd., Brandon, next to Petco.

The bookstore will officially open to the public at 10 a.m. on Wednesday with author Lincoln Child cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his newest book, Dead Mountain. The new location showcases the highly lauded bookstore design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, housing books, toys, games and gifts.

“The appetite this community has for books is no more apparent than in the aisles of our Brandon Square store, well-loved and shopworn after 29 years,” said Amy Fitzgerald, vice president of stores for Barnes & Noble. “With this move, we replace the dated furniture and layout of the past. The new Regency Square store maintains the time-tested formula of well-stocked bookstores staffed by excellent booksellers. Now we do so in beautiful new stores designed to delight our customers and help them discover their next favorite book.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its manager has proven so successful. The bookseller is enjoying exceptionally strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after over 15 years of declining store numbers.

Interested in local real estate?Subscribe to Patch's new newsletter to be the first to know about open houses, new listings and more.

In 2022, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 30 new bookstores in 2023, with the Brandon location being the first to open in the area since 2008.

“It’s very exciting to lead this relocation,” said store manager Heather Fabritiis, a Barnes & Noble bookseller of 13 years. “The new bookstore design is so much brighter and more inviting, and we’ve been choosing our assortment with our loyal Brandon customers in mind. Better still, we’re now just across the street from our previous location. We can’t wait to welcome readers into our beautiful new bookstore.”

The Brandon/Valrico Chick-fil-A location in the Tampa Bay area is now offering customers free delivery via drones, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page Monday.

"Drone delivery is now here at Chick-fil-A E. Brandon/Valrico only!," wrote the franchise on Facebook. "For a limited time, order Chick-fil-A Delivery and enjoy a $0 delivery fee."

To use the new delivery option, customers are requested to select “Chick-fil-A Delivery” when placing an order on the app. While the restaurant did not specify the drone's delivery radius in the post, they said that that delivery distance is limited.

Delivery via drone has limited hours of operation, available only from Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., said Chick-fil-A.

In a separate post on Facebook, the restaurant gave a behind the scenes look into the delivery operation.

After an order is placed on the app, employees at the Chick-fil-A load the order into a white box, which is then attached to a drone and sent to the delivery location. When the drone arrives at the destination, it lowers the box onto the ground, where the customer receives it.

'Innovating with delivery'

Chick-fil-A, in a statement to USA TODAY, said that they are currently "innovating with delivery".

“Chick-fil-A is always exploring new ways to provide the best experience for our guests," said the fast-food restaurant chain. "We are in the early stages of testing drone delivery at a small number of Chick-fil-A restaurants."

However, Chick-fil-A did not specify which locations the drone deliveries are being tested at.
