Your top choice for compassionateIn-Home Care in South Beach, FL

It's often said that the golden years of your life are the most enjoyable. For most older adults in the U.S., it's a time to unwind, reflect, and live in the comfort of familiar surroundings. And that's how it should be - most senior citizens in America worked hard to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise their families. Shouldn't they be able to age with grace and dignity at home?

The answer is undoubtedly "yes," but as seniors age, they sometimes need assistance to live independently. Unfortunately, many older adults are unable to rely on adult children for help due to busy schedules, a lack of expertise, or both. That's where Mind & Mobility's home care in South Beach, FL begins to make a lot of sense.

Our in-home care services cater to those who want to stay in their homes as they age but require ongoing care that their loved ones cannot provide. Nowadays, most seniors prefer to live away from long-term care facilities and closer to their home where they feel most at ease.

If you or your senior loved one wants to thrive in their own house and avoid care facilities, in-home care is an effective, safe way to give family and friends the care they need when they need it the most.

The Mind & Mobility Difference

Mind & Mobility is a home care agency that takes pride in helping seniors enjoy life at home with grace and comfort. One of the biggest reasons why so many seniors and their families choose us is that our senior caregivers in South Beach, FL, do more than just change bedsheets and prepare meals. They make it a point to provide compassionate care and connect with patients on a personal level.

Instead of eliminating independence from our senior population in Florida, we believe in maximizing it - a goal that's not always supported by assisted living facilities and nursing homes. In fact, those locations are often overpriced, understaffed, and known for the spread of disease. Senior care from Mind & Mobility provides a more emotionally and financially relieving option, whether you need a little help around the house or more involved services like companion care or dementia care.

While we take pride in providing compassionate caregiving services for seniors at home, we also offer clients free access to our Mind & Mobility Homecare Center in South Florida. Here, your senior can receive treatment from therapists who are experts in physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Our therapists work collaboratively in a supportive environment, taking into consideration the client's needs and concerns. They combine their expertise with the latest research in their fields to deliver cutting-edge, evidence-based services. With unlimited access to one-on-one sessions, our therapists' top priority is to help seniors live and age gracefully at home without having to relocate to an assisted living facility.

What is Senior Care in South Beach, FL?

Many older adults in the United States prefer to age at home, as it offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity. According to an AARP report, three out of four adults aged 50 and above wish to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

However, as adults approach their 60s and 70s, some may require assistance around the house, especially when family members are too busy or live far away. The truth is that the natural process of aging can make it challenging to continue living at home. Simple tasks like running errands become more difficult due to mobility issues. Preparing healthy meals and keeping track of medications and appointments can also become a challenge. Safety becomes a concern, and family members may worry about the well-being of their loved ones.

In these situations, in-home care is often a perfect fit. It allows seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

Mind & Mobility provides a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they receive the help they need to remain independent. If you have a senior loved one who needs some extra help to stay happy and healthy, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even from afar.

Companion Care You Can Count On

Aging in place refers to the practice of aging adults living in their homes as they grow old. Studies show that around 77% of retirees prefer to stay in their homes for as long as possible, and home care can be an excellent way to bridge the gap between receiving elder care and staying at home.

Allowing your aging loved ones to maintain their independence is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. This can contribute to their overall health and well-being, as opposed to a living facility where they may feel powerless and depressed. Unfortunately, these facilities often take away a senior's ability to do simple things like cooking for themselves, scheduling visits with family and friends, and even bathing in the comfort of their own homes.

Home care in South Beach, FL, including companion care services, is designed to provide both medical and non-medical solutions that your senior needs in order to maintain their independence. That way, your senior doesn't have to destabilize their life or adjust to a new way of living away from home.

Take a Break with RespiteCare Services from Mind & Mobility

Taking care of a senior loved one can be a tiring and overwhelming task, particularly if the caregiver is employed full-time and has other responsibilities to handle. Taking care of an older adult in such a situation can result in caregiver burnout, which can lead to a decline in the quality of care provided and even illness. To combat this issue, many adult caregivers choose respite care as a solution instead of full-time home care in South Beach, FL.

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults in the United States provide care to someone aged 50 or older. Unfortunately, many of these caregivers experience stress, fatigue, and even depression.

Respite care services offer a short-term break to family members and unpaid caregivers from their caregiving duties. This is a crucial service that benefits both seniors and their caregivers and can be arranged for a few hours or even several days, depending on their requirements.

What are the Benefits of Respite Care from Mind & Mobility?

Respite care services can have a significantly positive impact on the health of your elderly loved one, as well as your own. Whether it's for an extended period of time or just a few hours a week, respite care can help ease the burden of caregiving.

Taking some time off for yourself may seem selfish at first, but it's crucial to recharge your batteries to be able to continue providing care. Taking a short (or longer-term) break can also improve the overall quality of your care. Plus, professional respite care services offer your senior an opportunity to learn from and engage with a compassionate caregiver from Mind & Mobility.

Three Hurdles That Family Caregivers Face

Caring for your aging parents can be a fulfilling act of love. As you reminisce about the care they gave you while growing up, you now have the opportunity to return the favor. However, providing care for loved ones can be challenging. It's important to anticipate the obstacles you may face and learn how to manage them to protect your own health and well-being.

Here are three of the toughest challenges that family caregivers have to face when caring for their senior parents or loved ones.

Enough Support

Not Enough Support

It's common to feel like you're carrying the majority of the burden when it comes to taking care of your aging parents. However, assuming that you are solely responsible for their care can be overwhelming and cause strain in other relationships. It's important to remember that caring for someone else is not a one-person job. Attempting to do so can lead to burnout, depression, and other serious health issues. It can also negatively impact the level of care your parents receive.

Enough Sleep

Not Enough Sleep

Interrupted sleep can be a problem for older adults whose circadian clock has shifted, leading them to wake up more frequently throughout the night. It can also be a result of stress and worry. If dementia is a factor, you may need to stay alert due to sundowning and wandering. Those tasks can be difficult and require a sharp mind that has had plenty of rest. In fact, getting enough sleep is crucial for your ability to provide the best care for your parents, as well as for your own physical and emotional well-being.

Enough Privacy

Not Enough Privacy

Sharing living space with your parents can compromise both your physical and emotional privacy. This is especially true if one or both of your parents have dementia, which can cause them to feel afraid or disoriented when you're not around. At the same time, your parents may also find it difficult to maintain their privacy while under your care.

That begs the question - how can you conquer the challenges that most family caregivers face on a daily basis?

In-Home Care in South Beach, FL Helps Alleviate Your Burden

Mind & Mobility's in-home caregivers can be there to help you ensure the best care for your parents and a healthier life balance for yourself. Taking a break from caregiving is not just a great idea; it's essential.

Our respite care services offer you regular breaks from caregiving, which allows you to take care of yourself while enriching your parents' lives. We provide opportunities for socialization and engaging activities, along with the necessary support to ensure safety and comfort. You can rest easy knowing that your parents are in the best of hands while you take a break.

J. Crew Factory and Bath & Body Works appear to be joining South Beach Regional shopping center next to the new Nordstrom Rack in Jacksonville Beach.

Landlord Regency Centers Corp. has both stores listed on its property brochure for the center, showing J. Crew Factory in 5,785 square feet and Bath & Body Works in 3,000 square feet near the 29,735-square-foot Nordstrom Rack.

All three appear to be under construction and are fronted by a construction screen.

J. Crew Factory is in Space 37 next to Nordstrom Rack, the off-price retail division of the Seattle-based department store chain.

Bath & Body Works is in Space 35.

No tenant is listed for Space 36.

New York City-based J. Crew Group is an apparel and accessories retailer for men, women and children.

Factory.JCrew.com says J. Crew Factory sells clothing at 40% to 70% off everything with additional deals.

Work was approved March 8, 2023, for J. Crew Group to build-out a 7,188-square-foot J. Crew Factory store in The Markets at Town Center next to St. Johns Town Center.

J. Crew also has J. Crew and Madewell clothing stores in St. Johns Town Center.

Bath & Body Works has at least seven operating locations in Northeast Florida.

The personal care, fragrance and candle store most recently opened a 3,200-square-foot store in Southside Commons, north of Regency Square Mall, on Feb. 2. It also has stores in St. Johns Town Center, The Avenues mall and Riverplace Shopping Center in Mandarin. There are two in St. Augustine and one in Orange Park.

Jacksonville-based Regency Centers Corp. owns the 302,737-square-foot South Beach Regional shopping center at 3740-4194 S. Third St., north of Butler Boulevard.

Anchors include The Home Depot, Ross Dress for Less, Trader Joe’s and Staples.

Nordstrom Inc. announced April 13 it will open a 30,000-square-foot Nordstrom Rack store in Jacksonville Beach in spring 2024.

The Regency Centers brochure shows it as Anchor C in the former Stein Mart store.

“The addition perfectly complements the shopping center’s strong merchandising mix and provides an additional community favorite shopping destination serving the greater Beaches area and eastern Jacksonville communities,” said Eric Apple, leasing agent for Regency Centers, in an April 2023 news release.

Nordstrom has operated a Nordstrom Rack store in The Markets at Town Center since 2013 and opened a full-line 124,000-square-foot store at St. Johns Town Center in 2014.

When the Jacksonville Beach store opens, Nordstrom will have six full-line stores and 18 Nordstrom Rack stores in Florida.

Nordstrom also announced a new look for its brand.

“The new branding celebrates and reflects the bold, authentic, empowered and expressive spirit of our customers while showing them even more ways to Rack whether they shop on our website, app or at one of our Nordstrom Rack stores,” it said in a news release.

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - A major storm system continued to wreak havoc across South Florida, bringing lashing winds and relentless rounds of rain across the region, but the miserable weather did not deter visitors who braved the elements to have a good time on a Saturday night.

Strong wind gusts of at least 50 miles per hour were reported, and they’re expected to stick around until early Sunday morning.

Meteorologists said isolated severe weather could involve a random tornado, a waterspout and hail. Drivers are advised to avoid being on the road, if possible, due to low visibility in parts of the region.

The culprit behind the inclement weather is an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico that will continue to move across Florida and taking a big swath of rain in a northbound direction.

A street flood advisory was issued for Broward and Miami-Dade counties. It has since expired.

And yet, the nasty weather proved to be no obstacle for revelers who filled bars on Fort Lauderdale Beach and Ocean Drive after the sun went down.

The party did not stop at Palace Bar near 10th and Ocean. The hot spot is known for its epic drag shows, and Saturday night was no exception.

“Rain, sleet or snow, there is always a drag show, honey,” said emcee Tiffany Fantasia.

The drag diva later spoke with 7News about Miamians’ resilience.

“We’re from Miami. We put on a show regardless. Unless there’s a big hurricane coming, we are still going to perform,” said Fantasia.

Fans appreciated the performers’ dedication. Gabriel Cambrano flew in from Ecuador to be a part of all the fun.

“I just arrived here today,” he said.

The rest of Ocean Drive, however, was essentially a ghost town, as the winds and rain kept most people away.

“This is not normal,” said a passer-by.

But despite the unfavorable weather, Leon Gogol and his friend, who are visiting from Germany, opted to ditch their shirts when heading out.

“Miami is the best. In Germany, it’s very cold, but Miami Beach is perfect,” said Gogol.

Hours earlier, 7News cameras on Saturday captured several passers-by on the Hollywood Broadwalk.

A couple visiting from Michigan said they haven’t even been able to get to their Airbnb.

“We’ve been waiting to check in to our Airbnb for like five hours,” said one of the visitors

“I was here like a couple of years ago, so not what I’m used to, but we’ll make the best of it,” said the other visitor. “It should be good tomorrow.”

It was more of the same on Fort Lauderdale Beach: windy, with rain suddenly increasing then petering out. Rinse, repeat.

Businesses in Hollywood put up sandbags, and the orange beach barricades remained in place.

But the wet conditions did not deter some people from grabbing their umbrellas and ponchos and taking a stroll.

Susan said she’s the making the most of it.

“Not very good, but conducive to day drinking,” she said.

George from New Jersey doesn’t mind the rain. It certainly beats the weather that’s waiting for him back home.

“I’m evading the cold, so I think it’s great. Even though it’s windy, it’s not sunny, but it’s still better than what I have over there,” he said.

Tracy, on the other hand, does mind.

“Well, it’s crazy. It looks like we’re having a hurricane,” she said. “I’ve never seen the water like this before. It’s crazy.”

Still, others chose to look at the silver lining.

“It could have been snow. Better than snow,” said a woman.

A few tourists on Miami Beach came in to take a peek at the big waves, which reached heights of up to 12 feet.

“We don’t have an ocean where we’re from, so seeing waves this big is kind of cool, so we’re just checking out the sights,” said visitor Kailee Schultz

Cameras captured a couple of runners caught in the pelting rain.

Organizers of the Seminole Winterfest Boat Parade on Friday decided to cancel the annual event for only the second time in 52 years due to the wicked weather.

“It’s with profound sadness and disappointment that we have decided to cancel,” said Lisa Scott Founds, the parade’s president and CEO, during a news conference as she fought back tears.

Marine experts said no vessels are safe in weather like this.

“Conditions out there right now, regardless of experience or equipment that you are on, are incredibly unforgiving,” said Broward Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Deputy Hector Rodriguez.

As of late Saturday night, Miami International Airport reported 123 flight delays — 111 departures and 11 arrivals — and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport reported 40 delays.

The worst of the bad weather was expected to travel across South Florida between 8 p.m. on Saturday and 5 a.m. on Sunday.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – As the sun went down Saturday, the wind gusts began to pick up on South Beach. And while this had been mostly a wind event for the area, it also started getting some drenching rains.

A normally bustling Ocean Drive was mostly empty Saturday evening due to the weather.

“It’s not great -- it’s very windy and I don’t like it,” Marcel Lemanczyk, who is visiting from Poland, said.

Tourists from overseas were disappointed with the lack of sun.

Instead, there was whipping wind and biting rain on Miami Beach where they still ventured out.

“To check. When you’re in Miami, you should check the beach,” Lemanczyk said.

The stalled-out weather system gave the area one last kick Saturday evening.

Befuddled visitors made the best of their trip to South Florida.

“I mean, it’s still pretty warm. What? 70 degrees out, not bad, besides the wind and waves,” Luke Frye, who is visiting from Michigan, said.

Max Gane and Leon Gogol, who are visiting from Germany, said this is their first time in America and they were thrilled to be in South Florida.

They both even ventured into the water off South Beach.

“Even with this wind, even with this rain, it’s still great. Swim in this water. Miami Beach is the best place in the world!” they said.

But business owners weren’t as excited.

At the Gabriel Italian restaurant, the manager said business is down 60 percent over the past three days.

“I’ve been here for 25 years, and this is the first time in December there is such a bad weather,” Dario Alano said.

The weather was a major impact to businesses, but several owners and workers said they’re hoping that as this system moves on, they will be able to catch up for this season.

They’re hoping business gets back to normal next week.

The tradition of battered and fried fish is said to have been brought over to England in the late 1880s by Jewish immigrants from Spain and Portugal and eventually paired with French fries, or “chips.” The humble dish soon found its way in every British city and town, served on newspapers in local “chippys” and pubs.

We’ve gathered some of our favorite local spots to indulge in this finger-licking favorite.

This casual waterfront in Homestead with a Florida Keys vibe has been serving various seafood and burger dishes since 2005. Diners can even bring their own catch and have it prepared onsite. Fish and chips is also a menu staple and comes with French fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and malt vinegar.
